Redwing Loft Hangout

This project was full of fun and colorful personality! As part of this larger remodel, we designed and installed a grouping of two tween bedrooms and a shared loft space. The challenge of this project was to allow each child their unique style and personality in their bedrooms while maintaining cohesion into the larger shared loft space and the rest of the house. The homeowners also wanted to create rooms that fit their children now but would also suit them as they grew.
Sat Hari interviewed each child to understand what they wanted for their bedroom and included them throughout the design process. The request for bedroom one was contemporary boho style in pink and purple with a large mandala mural. Using the existing daybed, we added warm color to the walls, bright patterned bedding, and a hand-painted mandala. We sourced bedside tables, a vanity, and comfortable seating, and styled the room. The second child wanted a super clean white bright, sophisticated room with lots of plants. Sat Hari chose neutral walls and bedding, textured gray and gold pillows, all warmed by a botanical wall design. Closet organization was a must addressed with a specially selected closet storage unit.
In the hangout area, Sat Hari used light wood tones, corals, golds, and grays to create continuity between the bedrooms and loft area. We removed the existing railing overlooking the first floor and replaced it with glass and maple trim to create a brighter, airier space. read less.. read more
